Wind turbine technician salary in Europe: country evidence and offer checks
Wind turbine technician pay in Europe depends on the job, country, experience and contract. There is no single European salary scale. Public examples below separate a national careers estimate and employer adverts. They retain the original currency and pay period so you can see what each figure actually describes.
Sources were checked on 21 October 2026. Advertised amounts are evidence of the specific offer described, including expired adverts; they are not a promise of today’s availability or a Gridinta pay offer. Where the source does not state a tax basis or a period, that uncertainty is shown rather than converted into a take-home figure.
United Kingdom: a career guide and a dated onshore advert
The National Careers Service wind turbine technician profile gives an estimated annual salary of £25,000 for a starter to £47,000 for an experienced technician, with typical weekly hours of 37–40. It does not split onshore and offshore pay or provide a net take-home calculation. Its salary methodology says ranges are guidance drawn from sources including statistics and vacancies; starter figures may include trainees. The profile does not display a reference year or separately label the tax basis.
For a more specific example, EDF’s North Scotland wind turbine technician advert, reference 35899, published a salary of £40,800–£54,000 per year according to experience for onshore Senvion assets, based at Garve. It specified 40 hours a week for new technicians, a 5% bonus, an on-call allowance and overtime paid at 1.5 times the normal rate. The closing date was 31 August 2026 and the page is marked expired. The advert presents salary and extras separately, but does not provide a net amount or explicitly label the tax basis.
Those sources answer different questions: the careers profile gives an entry-to-experienced guide, while the EDF advert describes one employer, technical scope and service base. Neither establishes an offshore premium or a salary ceiling for the UK.
Lithuanian recruitment: distinguish the employer from the work country
A Lithuanian employer’s advert can describe work abroad. On INIKTI’s own careers page, the “Technicians (Wind Turbine Segments)” listing showed from €4,465 gross per month when checked on 21 October 2026. The description covers construction and assembly work on rotational assignments abroad, with training and accommodation described in the offer. The page gives no publication or closing date for that listing.
That is a specific segment construction and assembly example. It is not a Lithuanian national technician average, an onshore maintenance pay band, or a Gridinta offer. A separate listing on the same page for a service and maintenance team lead in Germany gives a gross range but no pay period, so we do not turn it into a monthly or annual benchmark. Ask where the work is done and which role is being priced before comparing Lithuanian recruitment adverts.
Experience: compare responsibility as well as years
A trainee, a supervised technician and a person authorised to lead work have different responsibilities. When discussing a pay grade, identify what it covers: scheduled servicing, diagnostics, commissioning, major component work, composite repair, or supervision. Ask which turbine platforms and authorisations the employer recognises and whether training changes the grade automatically or requires a separate assessment.
If you are entering the trade, read how to become a wind turbine technician. Buying another safety certificate does not establish competence for a higher-paid technical task. GWO’s BTT standard describes preparation for further company training and supervised work.
Onshore versus offshore: compare a full year on the same basis
These public sources do not provide a matched onshore/offshore pay comparison for the same country, grade and working hours. We therefore do not assign a percentage premium to offshore work. For an offshore offer, ask how the base pay, rotation, offshore allowance and paid working days fit together. A higher day rate can describe a different number of paid days or different costs.
- Hours and rotation: how many contracted hours and paid days are there, and are rest periods between rotations paid?
- Overtime and standby: what triggers extra pay, and what happens during weather delays, cancelled transfers or breakdown call-outs?
- Travel and accommodation: which journeys, travel hours, hotel or vessel stays and meals are paid or reimbursed?
- Allowances: is an offshore, on-call or shift allowance guaranteed, conditional or already included in the headline figure?
Employee salary, contractor day rate and take-home pay
Keep employee salary and contractor invoices in separate comparisons. For a contract day rate, establish the number of paid days and which costs you must meet: training, insurance, equipment, travel, accommodation and time between assignments. For employment, check annual leave, pension arrangements, sick pay and employer-funded training in the written offer. Do not multiply a day rate by every day of the year.
Gross pay is the amount before deductions; net pay is the amount after the relevant deductions. A foreign annual salary, a monthly net offer and a contractor day rate cannot be compared by their headline number. Obtain a written breakdown for your circumstances. We have not converted currencies, estimated personal taxes or treated expense reimbursement as salary.
Questions to settle before accepting an offer
- Which employer and work country does the contract name?
- What is the base amount, currency, pay period and gross or net basis?
- Which hours and rotation are covered, and what is paid outside them?
- Which allowances and reimbursements are additional, and under what conditions?
- Who pays for required training, renewals, medical assessments, travel and accommodation?
- What changes if a project is delayed or an assignment ends?
For Gridinta, use the wind turbine technician role page to discuss the current project and request its pay terms from recruitment. Public market examples above do not establish Gridinta’s salary, location, vacancy status or contract terms. If you are comparing rope-access assignments, our rope access salary guide covers that separate role family.
